Thanks to everyone for your excitement about our news this weekend. I thought I would take some time today and cover some of the details I didn't mention in post this weekend. Also, I would try to answer the common questions we have been asked in the last few weeks.
First up, I'm due April 29th so we could possibly have a May baby. I am pretty excited about a spring baby. We get to do all the fun fall birthday things with Brooklyn and now we can try our hand at spring birthday things with the little one. Brooklyn even said, "We can get a water slide for his/her birthday party" haha! Maybe in a few years....
I am feeling SO much better the last two to three weeks! We took a trip to the beach when I was 11 weeks, and I wasn't sure if I was feeling better because we were at the beach or if I was actually starting to feel better for good! I think it was a little of both. The weeks before this were pretty rough. It could have been worse though. I know some women have a hard time even getting out of bed. I still made it to work everyday, drinking my ginger ale and munching on peanut butter crackers. Eating a little bit all day long really helped keep my nausea in check. (This is another good first trimester survival guide.)
I've also been asked quite a bit if this was on purpose. I think that's such a funny question. I don't know why but it just is to me. And yes, this was on purpose. My husband and I have been married two years and we are both in our early 30s, it's not that crazy to have a baby together, lol. I think people assume that since my daughter is 12 that I would not be having more kids due to the age difference.
I've also been asked who did our beautiful pictures! My blog friend Rach Vendetti took these pictures at a local park. She was such a thrill to work with and so easy going. She made sure we were happy with the photos and captured exactly what we were going for! I would share more but I'm saving some for our Christmas cards this year. (Check our Rach's photography page here)
And yes, we did keep the secret from Brooklyn until the photos were taken. I've been asked that as well. She truly didn't know until the day of photos. She read the sign as soon as it was handed to her and then we got pictures with the onesie later. That is the onesie I gave my husband for our anniversary in September.
I think that covers everything so far. If I missed anything let me know. Oh besides the gender! I got a failed attempt at a gender reveal teaser and reveal pic this morning thanks to the rain. You can check that out over on instagram (janessa1020) along with my pregnancy brain moment of the day.

Last Friday we shared some exciting news with the world via social media. This has seriously been one of the hardest secrets I've ever had to keep. The first trimester felt like I was keeping secrets for weeks and weeks. I didn't tell my husband for 10 days because i wanted to tell him on our anniversary. Then we kept the secret from Brooklyn for a few more weeks so we could capture her reaction on camera (seriously, the best decision ever!).
We told most of our family individually. I thought my mom was going to spill our secret though. I told her at one of Brooklyn's volleyball tournaments when most everyone had left for lunch or headed outside. She screamed. Like 4 times. To say she was excited would be an understatement. Jeremy's mom screamed at a check out counter. His whole family is over the moon too! This will be the first baby for them in a long while.
Now the big secret is gender! We know! And we have told a few friends and most of our family knows. We just have one family member to tell before we make the news public and I really can't wait. I've had to watch what I pinterest these days so I don't spill the beans!! I'm hoping by next week we get to share the gender. Also, my daughter has insisted that I take weekly "bump" pics so I'm going to do my best to update with those once a week or every other week if the questions get repetitious.
So any guessing on whether we have blue or pink in our future??
