The Resolution Post

Whether you like resolutions or not, most people at least think about goals or some type of thing they want to accomplish around this time of year. I'm a fan of monthly goals, but I usually come up with some "resolutions" for the whole year too. 

Here's what I have so far: 

Running goals 
- Sub30 5k. Last year I got to around 32 minutes before I started working on distance. I am not a fast runner, but I also haven't really worked on speed. This year I want to work on that a little harder along with my endurance. 
Stars and Stripes 5k - my 5k PR
- Complete a 30 day run streak. Last summer I got connected with some awesome runners (Run365) who are beyond inspirational. Some of them completed their 365 days of running at least one mile a day on Dec 31. Some have been streaking even longer; and some just started streaks on New Years Day. I'm starting small with a 30 day streak. Then we will see how it goes. 

Home goals
- Complete the downstairs of my house. We have been living here 2 years now and I still haven't gotten my house together. Ridiculous! I am really great decorating for others but awful decorating for myself. My list is a mile long but I'm going to focus on the living room and kitchen before the rest of my house. 
- Declutter. That's always a goal. I've already taken two full bags of toys, shoes, clothes, and random other things to goodwill last week. 
- Complete one organizational project each month. I like keeping it simple with just one project each month. I get a little ADD when I start working on things. When I was cleaning my living room before Christmas, I went to move some photo boxes to make room for Christmas decor. So of course that meant I had to open the boxes and reorganize ALL the photos. What should have taken 5 minutes to clear one small spot ended up taking me 2 hours. Just like this goal has now taken off on a tangent....

Fashion goals?
- Wear all my scarves (not at once). Is it weird that this goal seems as lofty as running a 30 day streak?! I came up with this goal as I was adding 3 to my closet after Christmas. 
Crappy picture of my collection but there are probably 10 or more on each hook
- Wear each piece of jewelry or get rid of it. Similar to my scarf addiction, I have too much jewelry. Not like, diamonds and rubies. More like cheap, on sale $3 necklaces. I can't pass it up. 

Other goals
- Read the magazines I subscribe to. Some months I'm great and some months I don't even open the first page.

I hope to start running again. I am with you on the scarf thing! My funniest resolution this year...improve my posture. I have had bad neck probs for a few months and have had to go the chiro twice a week. If I don't sit and stand up straight I am gonna have a hump back!

I love it! Those all seem totally doable! My house is a hot mess right now. I need to get on it. My goals, are to 1) survive until May...this is Chris's last semester and so with work and school he's basically only going to be home on the weekends. 2) get back into running and start doing at least 1 5K a month starting in March (after I finish C25K which I started yesterday).

I like your House Goals - those are on my list too, especially since we have baby #2 on the way and I need to make more room! :) Basement is a mess, guest room is now my closet... yikes.

Good luck with your running goals too! Those are attainable with some hard work!!

Oh man, I should do that with scarves and necklaces as well. I have way too many that I love, but I just don't wear them all. Good idea!
