My 30 by 30

So I'm not officially 30 yet, but I wanted to do the ___ in ___ post from Erin's blog, Living in Yellow. It made more sense to do 30 that 29, since I would only have 3 months to complete a 29 in 29 list. So here is a list of what I want to do over the next year {and 3 months}.

one. Buy a house....whoa yea. I go balls to the wall right out of the gates with that one. It's time though. I know where I want to be and what I am looking for, I just have to find it. This is the year!

two. Update my resume. I'm not looking to go anywhere right now but it sure is a pain to update it if you wait too long. And it has been quite a while since mine was updated.

three. Lose 10 pounds and two sizes. I'm actually not too worried about the pounds, I just want to get back to my "normal" size in pants. I need to get toned though, not just skinny.

four. Complete 5 sewing projects with my new sewing machine.

five. Paint a large picture for my living room. I love to paint but I haven't done it creatively in a very long time. #OrMaybeI'llJustPutaMirrorAboveMyCouchInstead

six. Spend a week at the beach with my loves. [cheater...so it's already planned for October]

seven. Read 12 books. A book a month. I can do that right? -Says the girl that has missed the last 3 (or was it 4) book clubs. But we meet sometimes more often than once a month. Ok, I'm trying to make it sound better but it has seriously been a while. I'm going to be better though. I have this new book downloaded to the Kindle and it's ready to go!

eight. Host girl's night at my house. (Promise I'm going to, Lora)
Missing these gals!

nine. Meet a country music singer. Because it sounds fun, ok. Jason...Luke...I'm coming for ya boys!

ten. Increase my accessories. Yea, a goal about shopping, surprise surprise.

eleven. Save 6 months worth of living expenses. Yep, now I'm stepping on goal #10 hah!

twelve. Visit NYC again

thirteen. Make a piece of jewelry that I love and will actually wear in public.

fourteen. Take a girls trip or grown up trip somewhere.

fifteen. Go to at least two football games, two basketball games, and two baseball games (or 10) this season on top of all the softball we attend.

sixteen. Go to 5 non-chain "Memphis famous" restaurants that I have never been to before. Arcade, I'm looking at you!

seventeen. Blog more regularly, can I get an amen!? It's something I'm always struggling with.

eighteen. Visit with in some way at least 3 people that I have not seen in 6+ months or more.

nineteen. Give my house the most thorough deep cleaning it has ever seen!

twenty. Find a great new pair of black comfy dress shoes. It's the little things in life that make me happy too!

21 (ok enough of writing out the numbers, it's making me feel old). Plant a garden. Or at least an herb garden for now. I really want fresh tomatoes though.

22. Get some professional photos taken. Again, this is kind of a cheat since I already have our appointment set up for Oct 23rd. Yay!

23. Go golfing! Confession...I just want to drive the golf cart.

24. Become famous. nbd

25. Get a new camera. Nikon D3100 would be perrrrrfect!

26. Go snow skiing. I've never been. My fam didn't start their winter vacations until after I was out of the house. My sisters have been, but I haven't yet. I think that would be a great plan for next year!

27. Take a trip to the horse races again. This used to be a yearly girl's trip but I think now that most of my friends are in a couple, it would be a fun couples trip. I'll get to planning!

28. Take an art class. You're not the only one asking "when will you have time to do that?" I know I probably won't but I think it would be so much fun. I loved art growing up and I was an awesome artist #liesItoldontheinternets (j/k I was decent). I think it would be fun to get back to some of that and see where it takes me.

29. Open an etsy shop once my art becomes awesome. How fun would that be to display your art in someone else's house? Ok, maybe another far fetched one, but did you see #1? I'm reaching for the stars this year.

30. Be the best mom, sister, daughter, girlfriend (or fiance, just sayin), friend, and person I can be!

It's Ok Thursday...

Its Ok Thursdays
It's ok that the inside of my car sounds like the Teen Choice Awards some days. I need a little teeny bopper music to get my day going from time to time.

It's ok that my brain seems to have "checked out" until vacation. And it's ok that vacation is only 71 days away! Hello PCB!

It's ok that I remembered I had a 1:30 meeting at 1:33....while I was still at a restaurant...and it was kind of one of those "whatever you do don't look bad at this meeting" kinda meeting. {ok maybe it's not ok}

It's ok that my body hurts today, because it means my muscles have been getting their work out on!

It's ok that I totally missed the date for having this month's book read for book club....I'll getcha on the next one!

It's ok to pamper yourself from time to time....which is why I've been looking for a good {read: cheap} spa for a massage reward after I take myself down a size.

And most importantly, it's ok that it's Thursday, because that means we are knocking on Friday's door!

1. Buy a new {to me} car

Way back in February I started a "101 Things in 1,001 days" list....and I only made it to like 42. My bad. I got busy, ok! Anyways, I was thinking about that list the other day and thinking I needed to, I don't know, actually make it 101 things. Then I also remembered, I needed to mark something off the list!

Meet the newest member of our family....

And yes, my cars always have names. The name Gladys was semi inspired by my friend's car, Alice*. See Alice is all "techy-like" and Gladys is more behind the times when it comes to that stuff. I can't press and button and tell her what I want to hear on the radio. So she needed an older name. That's ok though because Gladys is classy and gets me all the way to work (a good 30 miles) on one gallon of gas. Pretty nice of her to do that for me, right?

One great piece of advice I got while car shopping was "if you test drive something and you feel like the car should be named 'Bertha', get out immediately, that is not your car." My friends know just how to talk to me about important purchases. I just love them!

*I just googled the reason I thought Alice was named Alice and realized that I was wrong about who I thought she was named after. Now I'm wondering where in the world I got that from. It may have involved conversations to or from TJs and our friend Jager may have been there.

My Blogger 411

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
According to my blogger info, I've been blogging over a year now, but not really consistently. I started the blog to basically keep track of pictures and happenings in my life. I think over time it is/will develop into more of an open forum of randomness. I am random, so my blog should probably be random also.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
I went to the U of Memphis and majored in Accounting. Where my math nerds at?? Anyone?

3. Where have you traveled?
I've been to all parts of TN (duh), Florida, Texas, Missouri, New York, Jersey, DC, Philadelphia, Virginia, N and S Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Maryland, Grand Cayman Island, and Mexico....wow, I sound like a real world {mostly} US traveler. Texas was when I was younger so I don't remember much of that, and Illinois was just where our hotel was located on one trip to St Louis. Besides those, the rest are "legit" in my book.

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
A house. Seems like a simple thing but I am hoping to be in a house by the end of the year/beginning of next year and I would love to be able to just build my own on a big piece of land.

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
People that drag their feet when they walk. When someone smacks their food. And the misuse of "seen" and "done". (ex- I seen that shirt at the store. You done good.)

6. What is your favorite movie?
Sappy time....Serendipity. I love that movie. I usually watch it around Christmas time because they meet at Christmas. I just love how their paths cross multiple times. Spoiler alert when he opens the present and it's THE book, I cry. Or let out an awkward squeal. Every.time. This movie to me just screams "what's meant to be will be." Sidenote: I love most movies that take place in NYC just because they are set in NYC.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
On most days, Dr Pepper. I'm a pepper. But lately I've been "enjoying" water and Dr Pepper Ten in order to lower my calories for the day. Also was a big fan of blackberry wine this weekend.

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
Shop. Period. I can shop any day of the week whether I'm buying or just browsing. I love it. I truly believe in retail therapy.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
If I don't have to spend it all at once, I would say Marshall's. Yea, that sounds weird, but I swear I find more things that I like and that fit me there.

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
Whenever this question pops up, the only embarrassing memory I have {bc I've blocked the rest out} is from freshman year of high school. Ok maybe it was 8th grade, can't remember. I was racing a friend upstairs and to our next class. Why? I have no idea. I beat her to the door and tried to slam it real hard behind me, and I slammed too soon. The door hit my heel and I fell face first onto the floor in the front of class. Luckily, I went to a tiny school and I wasn't trying to be all "too cool for school" at all.

11. What day would you love to relive again?
This could be interpreted many ways. If I was going back to relive times from my past and change something, I would go back to a point in my life when I was at my lowest and instead of making a weak choice, I would make a much stronger one. I wouldn't take 4 years to realize how strong I really am. I would reassure myself that I can do anything I set my mind to.

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
I would say Jennifer Anniston...haha, but seriously. I have no clue, but I would love for her to play me. Probably the Friends her though, a little naive and into clothes #whatgirlisnt.

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
I babysat in high school during two summers. My senior year I was a hostess at O'Charley's. Then I actually worked in a cotton gin. Have I mentioned I'm country? I actually did mostly paperwork and filing. Great job for a college kid. Then I got a job at a bank working in collections. Talk about an interesting job. I finished up at a different bank at the end of my college career and I've been at my current job ever since I graduated.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
I just had to search facebook for a pic I was tagged in from high school....wow, there are some interesting picture of me out there on the internets!
I apologize....but it was 2001. I thought my forehead was too big to go naked. And I apparently didn't like my eyebrows to be even or thin. And I'm blaming the whiteness on the camera flash...yea, that's what I'm going with.

15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Italy and Greece. I have always wanted to go on a European vacation to those two places. I want to Ireland also but I've always wanted to see Italy and Greece first.

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you & your family, or anything of meaning to you.

17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?
In five years, I better be see myself married and in a larger house with enough room for family additions. In 5 years, my daughter will be 14. That is a panic attack type scary thought.
